Dutch Flower Group and DAEL Energy join forces to improve the sustainability of energy
The cold stores of Dutch Flower Group (DFG) on Rietwijkeroordweg in Aalsmeer, where e-Flora is located, have recently become more sustainable. DAEL Energy based in Maasdijk supplied a customized and “smart” PV installation. The two companies joined forces to examine the energy consumption of the DFG location in order to make it future-proof.
Smart tools tailored to needs
DAEL Energy analyzed power consumption and mapped user behavior with the help of smart tools. Based on these insights, it became clear which solar panel installation would perfectly match DFG's energy needs. Efficiency and sustainability also played a major role in the decision, resulting in the installation of almost 800 solar panels in total. Because no energy may be returned to the grid, the system switches off panels when generation exceeds consumption. Thanks to a smart monitoring system, this happens completely automatically.
Insight through real-time dashboard
Both DFG and DAEL Energy have access to real-time data on energy consumption and production from the solar panels via an online dashboard. This smart installation makes it possible to continuously optimize and respond immediately to deviations or opportunities.
The collaboration went smoothly and efficiently for both parties
The installation of solar panels on the e-Flora building is in line with the IMPACT2030 sustainability strategy of Dutch Flower Group (DFG), the company of which e-Flora is part of. Thanks to this innovation, e-Flora can now operate almost entirely energy-neutral. Linda Boekestein, project manager at DFG: “The collaboration with DAEL Energy went very smoothly, with short lines of communication and direct communication with our contacts. Together with DAEL, we are looking at the next steps we can take to make our companies and locations even more sustainable.”
“We look back on a pleasant collaboration with DFG, in which trust and efficiency were key. In a short period of time, we realized a smart installation that not only perfectly matches the usage pattern, but was also delivered within a tight deadline,” stated Jan de Wilde, Business Manager at DAEL Energy.
With this development, Dutch Flower Group is taking another concrete step toward more sustainable energy management with the help of DAEL Energy. Smart, responsible, and future-oriented.
