After finishing substation Zwolle DAEL Rail starts working on the relay house

ZWOLLE – The substation in Zwolle has been delivered successfully and the project relay house has started. DAEL Rail realises a substation and relay house at the rail expansion between Zwolle and Herfte commissioned by Zwolse Alliantie Zwaluw (cooperation between VolkerWessels and ProRail). They needed more space to cope with the increasing rail traffic around Zwolle Station. They are building new railways to makes it possible for more trains to depart or arrive and therefore they make better use of Zwolle Station.

Over the next months DAEL Rail will be working on the construction and installation of the relay house. Last June our rail engineers started realising the substation and at the beginning of November they started with the construction of the relay house. This building will contain the rail infrastructure’s relay security, including the train security cabinets, battery compartment, supply room and telecom. It is expected that coming March the relay house will be finished.

The structural component of the relay house will be built by DAEL Rail, consisting of a cable vault, concrete floor and walling and roof elements. Our engineers will also take care of the electrical installation in the building, such as the necessary climate control equipment, grounding system, lightning protection and building-related installations. Project manager Hans Herweijer is satisfied with the start of the project: “The work has been started successfully and the coordination between all concerned parties has been pleasant and constructive. We hope for a prosperous completion according to planning.”
